We are The Mill
Wolvercote Community Space

FOR OUR COMMUNITY, BY OUR COMMUNITY.

We are proudly

Collaborative
Working together as a community to build a vibrant new space, all our activities are designed to complement rather than compete with existing local spaces and services. We aim to partner with all groups in our unique and vibrant neighbourhood.

Sustainable
We take responsibility to remain financially sustainable to serve our community, committed to ethical and social practices and to be as environmentally regenerative as possible in all our actions.

Inclusive
Our new building is a safe and welcoming space for all. Everyone is welcome regardless of age, race, ability, beliefs or sexual and gender orientation.

What is this building, who owns it and who is it for?

On completion of the CALA Homes development in 2023, the community of Wolvercote in Oxford was handed ownership of the former sales office.

It is a two storey building with both floors accessible by wheelchair via a lift. There is also a small private garden at the back of the building. It’s brand new, well lit, comfortable and a fantastic space.

A group of local volunteers came together to conduct a consultation and a series of workshops to explore how the community would like the space to be used. Out of those workshops grew a working group who subsequently set up a Charitable Community Benefit Society to take ownership of the building and manage it for the benefit of the community.

This brings an exciting addition to our community-owned assets and we look forward to sharing the space with everyone in our community, as well as all local organisations.

While we have many plans for the various uses of the building, including room hire, pop-up café, co-working space and much more, nothing is fixed and we are looking forward to finding out how we can best serve the people of Wolvercote with a space that is open and welcoming to all.

As much as possible we adhere to the most ethical, humane and environmentally regenerative policies towards all our operations.

We welcome your input and participation at the beginning of an exciting new journey.
